Fees

You choose the appropriate fee schedule based on the kind of assistance you want.

Coaching Conversations. Sometimes writers just want to gain clarity and momentum by talking through their projects. Therefore, I offer coaching conversations to help you develop your writing project. Many clients like to have these conversations by telephone, while we view a shared document together via Google Docs. Other clients like to use Skype. In either case, the fee is $50 USD for a conversation of up to one hour; additional time over one hour is charged at $50 per hour in whole hour increments.  Payment should be made before the scheduled conversation.

Editing and Coaching a la Carte.  If you want close editing on a piece of writing that you consider complete or nearly complete, this would be a good option for you. I will review your writing; edit for writing mechanics, clarity, cohesion, flow, alignment, argument structure, and APA style; and provide explanatory and/or instructional margin comments, as well as questions to encourage clarity and depth, where needed. The fee for this service is calculated per page, rather than per hour.

  • For short papers (9 or fewer pages, double-spaced, 12-point type), there is a minimum fee of $100 for the project regardless of the page count.
  • For longer papers (10 or more pages, double-spaced, 12-point type), the fee is calculated per page at the rate of $10 USD per page.

These fees include any conversations that you wish to have with me to clarify your thinking about your project, both before and after I review and comment the draft, at no extra charge to you.

Personalized Fee Structures.  Sometimes writers need a fee structure that is personalized to their situation. For example, some writers may need a formal proposal from me in order to gain long-term grant funding for coaching and editing services.
